Queering the Grid: The Unique Energy Perspective of LGBTQIA2s+ Communities

Description

Nature is a beautiful and diverse tapestry, and as queer people, we understand the importance of preserving it for future generations. LGBTQIA2s+ communities bring a fresh and innovative perspective that challenges the norms of heteronormativity. Our queer voices create space for intersectional issues like ecofeminism, energy justice, and queer geography to be recognized and prioritized.

It’s time for a change. The energy sector must be held accountable for the exclusion of queer people from clean energy. Heteronormative NIMBYism and discriminatory housing policies have forced LGBTQIA2s+ people, especially those who are Black and Brown, into communities with higher rates of toxic pollution and poverty. This has led to higher rates of respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, and cancer in our community. We won’t stand for it anymore, and we will continue to fight for housing and energy justice for all.

Join Energy Allies and Solstice Power Technologies at our research panel, featuring brilliant queer organizers and researchers who are experts in the intersection of environmental justice and queer rights. You’ll gain invaluable insights into their research and perspectives on how energy and housing justice affect LGBTQIA2s+ people. This event promises to be an enlightening and thought-provoking discussion that sheds light on the connections between social justice, environmental justice, and queer rights. Come and join us for an insightful and uplifting event!
